Salmsein Organic Farm. Martin Kritzinger:
The Salmsein Organic Farm is located at an altitude of 1,000 metres above sea level, surrounded by the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park. The farm dates back to the 15th century and was recently renovated by Martin. Today, it is supplied with natural heat and electricity generated from solar energy, wood and biogas.A wide variety of organic vegetables, fruits, grains and berries are cultivated on the farm. The organic farm also features a beautiful, large organic fish pond, which can also be used as a swimming pond, an on-site butchery where various types of cured meats and meat products are produced, as well as a small farm shop offering a wide range of products, including juices, schnapps, bread and beer made from the farm’s own wheat, different types of cured meats and many other specialities.
The farm also offers three organic holiday apartments. Each apartment is named after one of the farmer’s three children and has its own unique character. The Armin apartment is fully accessible and has been specially designed for guests with disabilities. It features a ramp, an accessible bathroom, level flooring and several sliding doors, allowing wheelchair users to move around the apartment comfortably and independently.
The funded project
With the Ethical Banking development loan from the “Less Handicap” savings line, amounting to 30,000 €, the renovation of the accessible apartment was financed.
“I am inspired by the fundamental idea behind Ethical Banking – especially its focus on sustainability. I try to apply these principles in my own work as much as possible, as they are very important to me. Thank you for your support!”
