Unterschweighof. Alois Berger:
At an altitude of 1,750 metres, my family and I run the Unterschweighof. For more than 20 years, the milk produced on the farm has been processed into cheese, yoghurt and many other dairy products, which are then sold directly from the farm. For several years, we have also been offering farm holidays for our guests. The farm has always been managed according to organic principles, and since 1999 we have been a member of Bioland.
We mainly produce hard cheese and semi-hard cheese, as well as herb and herb blossom cheeses, which are refined exclusively with ingredients produced on our own farm. In addition to various markets, shops and our own farm shop, our products are also available through the Biokistl delivery service.
The farm’s show garden is home to a rich variety of species. From herbs used in our cheese production to vegetables grown for our own consumption, many different plants are cultivated and harvested here according to strict organic standards.
The funded project
With the help of a 35,000€ Ethical Banking development loan, a 14 kW photovoltaic system was installed on the roof of the chicken and pig barn. The system produces 20,000 kWh of electricity per year, as our location benefits from plenty of sunshine even during the winter months. On the shortest day of the year, we still receive around 7.5 hours of sunlight.Unterschweighof - Ulten
“Thanks to the Ethical Banking development loan, we were able to install a photovoltaic system on the roof of the barn. It produces 20,000 kWh of electricity per year and therefore covers the entire electricity demand of the farm.”
