The 2025 Agitu Gudeta Award goes to Nathalie Schwienbacher from Oberschlummhof
The fourth Agitu Ideo Gudeta Award was presented in Bozen to Nathalie Schwienbacher from Schluderns.With this award, the organisers aim to highlight women in South Tyrol and Trentino who are pioneers of future-oriented farming, working in diverse areas and acting as innovators in rural regions. Diversity, rather than monocultures, holds the potential for both stability and change – whether at the level of individual farms or society as a whole – because it enables new combinations and solutions.
These women demonstrate how they integrate different areas into their agricultural work and develop new approaches and solutions. They contribute to product innovation and the development of new marketing channels. They combine culture, social commitment and health with agricultural activities and bring new life to rural areas through their initiatives. They also contribute to landscape ecology and demonstrate that agriculture and rural regions hold great creative potential.
The Agitu Gudeta Award goes to Nathalie Schwienbacher from Oberschlummhof
The organisers of the award, Martina Schullian, Susanne Elsen, Alessandra Piccoli, Monika Gross and Marion Maier, reviewed the 20 applications received and decided to award the Agitu Ideo Gudeta Award 2025 to Nathalie Schwienbacher from Oberschlummhof in Schluderns in the Vinschgau Valley.Six years ago, Nathalie took over the mountain farm from her uncle. Since then, many things have changed on the farm. She says: “Although it has required a great deal of courage, perseverance, tears and hard work, I am now very happy and proud of what I have achieved so far.”
She transformed the farm into an organic farm and lives there with her partner, her two children and her uncle. The farm is home to 100 chickens, two horses, six goats, two pigs and 15 Galloway cattle. She still has many plans for the future and says: “I want my farm not only to ‘serve’ me and my family and make us happy, but also to benefit the animals, nature and the environment that live with us in harmony.”
The winner received an award of €2,500, provided by Raika Bozen Ethical Banking.
