Why did you choose Ethical Banking?

I was convinced by the idea that, as a small saver, I can have an influence on how my money is used. Through the publication of the loans, I can see which social, ecological and sustainable projects my savings help to support. Money has the power to achieve a great deal – both for good and for bad. The more people become aware of this responsibility, the more positive change can be created towards greater common good and added value for society as a whole. Behind this stands Raiffeisen with its values of proximity, trust and security, as well as its principles of solidarity and helping people to help themselves.

What do you hope for Ethical Banking in the future?

Continued consistency and perseverance, so that the path towards responsible finance can be pursued with determination. Perhaps in the future, even more people can be inspired by this idea, so that it is no longer seen as a niche concept, but becomes a matter of course.

How do you envision your bank in the future?

Despite the ever-growing trend towards a digitalised and increasingly fast-paced world, I am convinced that no machine or robot will ever be able to replace human interaction. At some point, we will once again appreciate having advisors we can talk to, share our projects, dreams and experiences with, creating genuine social connections. Especially in a cooperative bank, it is about working together towards a common goal and pursuing a shared purpose for the benefit of everyone. I am firmly convinced that society will soon reach a certain level of “digital saturation” and that people will once again become the focus.
