Grödnerhof in Steinegg. Roland Pichler:
The photovoltaic system installed on the roof of the old barn at the Grödnerhof produces significantly more kWh than originally calculated, making it even more profitable. The electricity is used for our own needs, although we are not able to consume all of it ourselves. Over the past three years, the system has produced an average of around 19,000 kWh per year, while our annual consumption is approximately 14,000–15,000 kWh.
The purchase and installation of the system was financed through a 35,000€ Ethical Banking development loan.
About the Grödnerhof - a small paradise
The Grödnerhof is located at exactly 1,000 metres above sea level in a beautiful setting with a magnificent panoramic view of the Dolomites.Roland Pichler says: “The farm is situated in a secluded location, making it the perfect place to truly relax. No cars, no noise from neighbours – instead, we have created a small library on our farm where our guests can choose a book and enjoy reading to their heart’s content in a beautiful spot in the meadow, the forest or on our terrace.
The nearest village, Tiers, is located 6 km from the farm. Have you forgotten what it feels like to hear birds singing in the morning because you only hear cars racing by and honking? Leave all of that behind and simply sit back, relax and enjoy…”
Roland has been the owner of this hereditary farm since 1999. Although he mainly works as a helicopter pilot, in his free time he enjoys nothing more than being outdoors, spending time in the forest and living his passion as a farmer with all his heart.
