The decision to install a photovoltaic system was triggered by the plan to construct a new feed house. The reason for this was that the existing, old feed house no longer met the requirements of modern working methods. The time required to manage the farm was significantly higher compared to a modern feed house.
The decision to build a new feed house was also influenced by improvements in animal welfare, such as more natural light, more space and the elimination of tethered housing.
Already during the planning phase, attention was paid to ensuring that at least part of the roof followed the path of the sun, making it suitable for the installation of a photovoltaic system. As can be seen in the photograph, unlike the old feed house, the roof edge is no longer positioned at a right angle to the terrain, but runs parallel to it, which in this case results in a south-facing orientation.
An Ethical Banking development loan of 35,000€ was granted for the realisation of this project.
