“We need confidence” – Lecture by Ulrich Grober at the Gries Cultural Centre on 26 September 2024

In cooperation with Ethical Banking, the Kulturheim Gries is organising a lecture by author and journalist Ulrich Grober as part of the event series “50 Years of Kulturheim Gries.”
The lecture starts at 8:00 pm at the Kulturheim Gries (Fagenstr. 45, Bolzano).

In times of multiple crises, the word “hope” may sound rather bold. A sense of helplessness, a feeling that there are no alternatives, and fear of the future are becoming increasingly widespread. The belief in a future worth living, in a good life for all – indispensable for a vibrant community and a functioning democracy – is at risk of being lost.

Has hope become an empty word? The journalist and author Ulrich Grober disagrees. He defines hope as a perspective, a mindset based on visions of a desirable future. It does not mean closing one’s eyes to reality; on the contrary, it means recognising a broader picture and drawing from it the motivation for constructive action: The problems are obvious – but so are the solutions.
Does hope have a foundation in the reality of the 21st century? This urgent question is at the heart of Ulrich Grober’s lecture.
