Award for pioneers in sustainable agriculture in memory of Agitu – third edition

In memory of the murdered multifunctional agricultural pioneer Agitu Ideo Gudeta, the private voluntary initiative group is now launching the third edition of the award honouring pioneers of sustainable agriculture in Trentino-South Tyrol.
The personality and work of the Trentino-born sociologist, goat breeder, entrepreneur and networker with Ethiopian roots left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Her extraordinary optimism and her eco-social awareness guided her actions and shaped her commitment. Over the past two years, the dedicated initiative group consisting of Monika Gross, Susanne Elsen, Alessandra Piccoli, Martina Schullian and Marion Maier has launched the award, which has received great recognition.In the first edition in 2022, Miriam Zenorini from the Vintlerhof Biosocial Farm in Brixen received the award. Julia Gasser from Capriana (TN) received a special award this year from the group Aevvento al Vintola. The winner of the second edition in 2023 was Elisabeth Prugger from Greiterhaus Farm in Eyrs. In the same edition, the jury’s special award was presented to Stefania Lusuardi from Maso Canova in Terlago (TN). The application period for the third edition of the award is now open.
The award is aimed at pioneering women in sustainable agriculture in the Trentino-South Tyrol region and is presented annually. The winner receives €2,500, media visibility and becomes part of an eco-social network in the region.
Women who work in agriculture in the Trentino-South Tyrol region in a sustainable and innovative way can apply for the award. In addition to self-nominations, women may also be nominated by others. Applications and nominations can be submitted until 28 February 2024. The award ceremony will take place in spring 2024.
